Constant crashing since recent windows update.

I had a problem when updating recently, during the restarting after the update it went onto the white spinning dots and stayed there the whole day, i thought at this point i had to restart, and i did. It worked and recovered the update. Ever since then my pc will randomly freeze after doing something like closing a tab or pausing a video, it often happens if i'm trying to do one thing on my main monitor and clicking on my other. I coincidentally am getting a new CPU later this week, i'm wondering if that would help? i'm really confused by this
